It will help you track your progress and provide statistics on your green quest.
Take me there now.

What are greenhouse gases?
It seems we are reminded about climate change almost daily. Virtually every country on the planet and a majority of scientists and academics around the world agree that climate change is the number one environmental issue facing mankind.
Education and action are necessary in order to slow down the potential disastrous effects of climate change over the next century. Climate change (or global warming) is caused by the release of gases such as carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Most of these gases are emitted due to the burning of fossil fuels such as coal, gas, and oil.
Burning these fossil fuels provides electricity and heat for your home and fuel for your vehicles. We can lessen our impact on climate change by reducing the amount of fossil fuel based energy we consume and increasing the amount renewable energy we use, such as solar or wind power.
-top-
What do the points mean?
The burning of fossil fuels, such as coal and natural gas cause Greenhouse Gas
(GHG) emissions. Your share of GHG emissions at home are the result of
purchasing energy from your utilities, your vehicle also burns fuel, which emits
GHGs. The more energy you consume, the more GHG emissions you are responsible
for this is also referred to as your carbon footprint.
The utilities in each state or province use various sources to generate energy. GHGs from energy generation in Quebec are low because the province uses a lot of hydro power (no GHG). Provinces that burn fossil fuels and generate with nuclear power, such as Ontario and New Brunswick generate more GHG per kilowatt hour than Quebec, but much less than Alberta and Saskatchewan, which primarily burn fossil fuels.
Naturally, these points are estimates; actual results will vary based on the location, size and age of the home as well as the existing heating source. This website estimates your reduction in greenhouse gas emissions based on the age of your home, the heating source and the state or province where you live.
Depending on the data you provide we use the Points as a reduction base to determine how much each pledge item you complete reduces your carbon footprint. Each point equals 1 kilogram of reduction of greenhouse gases over a year period. The points are then modified based on your home and the area you live to give to better reading of your reduction.

What is Slidetalk?
SlideTalk was created a as result of a recent brainstorming session in Nashville. This feature was built so presenters can openly discuss the slides with each other. This allows presenters to ask questions, rate comments, learn, and discover how other TCP presenters around the globe present this critical information.
The slides contained in this group are the official slides. Guidance will be coming in the next few weeks on how to post presenter shared slides in the same format as these slides.
Any TCP member (and only TCP members) can enter comments and questions below each slide and reply to any of the comments. You can edit and delete your own comments. The comments can be rated (Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down) and sorted by rating and date.
How do you access SlideTalk 1.0? You can access SlideTalk from the Resource tab on the TCP Dashboard on the GreenNexxus site.
Your comments back to us and your usage will drive the feature set for SlideTalk 2.0. So browse the slides, comment, discuss, learn and enjoy. I hope you enjoy SlideTalk as much as we enjoyed building it.
