Welcome to the Green Schools Alliance portal for Cisco’s One Million Acts of Green program.

This is a place where you can do a lot to make a difference, and you can start right now. Every act of green that you take brings us closer to sustainable, energy-efficient living, and to having a healthy planet! You have a particular stake in ensuring the health of the planet, and we want to support you to become leaders and champions of change. Through this online community, you will be able to connect with students in other schools all over the world, and share ideas, photos, and presentations to help you be empowered to make an individual and collective impact on the environment.

What Is an “Act of Green”?

An “act of green” is an opportunity to help the environment by reducing the amount of greenhouse gases or carbon emissions you create in your daily life. When you turn out a light after leaving a room, walk to school instead of driving, use a refillable water bottle instead of throwing one away, or recycle, for example, you’re performing an act of green. Add all these acts together, and you’re doing a lot to lower your carbon footprint, and help the environment. You can share your own acts of green to encourage your friends, classmates, parents, teachers and others in your community to “act green” too. If your classroom hasn’t already started a Group, work with your teacher to start one. Start or grow your environmental club, and create a Group for it as well.

Step 1: Go to GSA.OneMillionActsOfGreen.com and click on the “Create an Account” link

Step 2: Look for your school in the list of registered schools

Step 3: Register your name within your school and your school administrator will approve you to enter the portal

It’s that easy!

• Post photos, documents, artwork, and comments to your Group Page.

• Share your creativity and green projects on your Group Page, so that other schools can learn from your ideas and success.

• Calculate the positive impact your acts of green have on the environment in terms of greenhouse gases saved.

• Challenge friends or other groups to see who is generating the most acts of green.

• Learn about what other individuals, communities, thought-leaders and organizations are doing to help the environment, and more!

Remember to visit the site often for new stories and updated information, and to learn about upcoming and fun contests to reward green champions!
