저는 더위를 많이 타는 체질이라 9월까지 제 방 에어컨을 애용합니다. 선풍기를 쓰면 되지 않느냐는 분들이 계실텐데 제가 안구건조증이 심해서 선풍기와 함께 살 수 없답니다. 에어컨 사용량이 많은 저로서는 양심의 가책을 많이 느꼈거든요. 그래서 전 항상 에어컨 가동 예약 시스템을 사용해서 잠이 든 후 1~2시간이 지나면 자동으로 꺼지게 합니다. 또한 에어컨 가동량을 줄이기 위해 구립도서관에 가서 공부를 하곤 합니다.

하나더 ㅎ 각방에 가재손수건을 두었어요. 2~3개씩 빨아쓰기도 쉽고 가볍거든요. 방바닥에 뭐만 떨어져도 화장지 많이 쓰잖아요. 화장지 만들려면 나무도 많이 베어야 한다던데^^;; 각방에 안쓰는 손수건 (아기용품점에서 파는 손수건이 가장 좋은것같아요) 놔두시면 화장지 사용량이 급격하게 줄어든답니다. ^^

가방에 작게 접어지는 장바구니를 항상 가지고 다녀요~ 갑자기 무엇을 살때도 비닐 봉투를 쓸 필요가 없거든요.^^ 빨래는 세탁기 사용은 하지 않고 여름옷들은 손빨래로 한답니다. 운동 대신이라고 생각하며 하면 전기도 절약, 물도 절약 즐거워요. 재생비누를 사용하면 일반 세제로 세탁할때의 섬유냄새등이 전혀 나지 않아 너무 좋아요^^

I suggested a variation of the doing dishes by hand on the CBC site but I never saw it posted:<br />> When doing dishes by hand use cold water to rinse off the soap, it uses less water to get rid of the dish soap, it gets rid of the soap quicker,<br />and no electric bill the dish washer is your hands and less gas bill for the hot water tank because you don't heat cold water<br /><br />(I keyed in 100 times for the "turn off the water when brushing" and it reports a 5000Kg reduction, I wonder if that's really true)<br />

Absolutely!!! <br /><br />There should also be other sub-categories/alternates for other ones too... like my personal favourite "wait till the dishwasher is full before turning it on". How 'bout "wash dishes by hand instead of wasting three times as much water and destroying your dishes"

TwyliteFlyer:<br />I agree, how am I supposed to know how many times, (I keyed in 100)<br />other sub-categories for this should be, "Use Natural Products" rather than standard products that contain toxic waste (fluorides)<br />and "Use Less Paste" I still see people squeeze out a blob the full length of the brush when only a tiny dab less than 1/4 what's normally used is sufficient. Using less paste means less rinsing also.

Why does this ask me how many times I've done this? I've always done this. Am I supposed to guess how many times in my life I've brushed my teeth?
