Al Gore challenged Americans today to do something similar today to what JFK challenged in the early 1960's. JFK's challenge in 1961 - put man on the moon in less than 10 years - they pulled it off. Gore's challenge - to get America of fossil fuels within 10 years. This challenge has to be pulled off, or else - we are in trouble.

A couple of quoets from his speech:

We’re borrowing money from China to buy oil from the Persian Gulf to burn it in ways that destroy the planet. Every bit of that’s got to change.

If you want to know the truth about gasoline prices, here it is: the exploding demand for oil, especially in places like China, is overwhelming the rate of new discoveries by so much that oil prices are almost certain to continue upward over time no matter what the oil companies promise. And politicians cannot bring gasoline prices down in the short term.

Please take a few minutes to read his speech - it is well worth the read.

I'm such a political skeptic, but I have to say when I read Gore's speech today I almost cried.

Where are the political leaders? Where are the politicians with enough guts to make change? I hope Gore is gearing up for a VP run, cause he's badly needed. Vision is badly needed.

Canada is wanting for it too.

What do folks make of the Larry King panel critiquing Gore's speech?

All I can say is...John Stossel is a piece of work ins't he! Rome is sinking and the fiddle ain't playing - it is the entire orchestra!

There is a great new initiative ... 100 months left. It really sets the right tone for anyone who is thinking about stalling with climate change initiatives.

I think we should make some noise about it...
