About Green Tips

Green Tips is a GreenNexxus feature that allows people to submit green advice, share them with friends, rate the ones you like, and even thumbs down the ones you don’t like. You can go beyond rating tips by clicking on the title of the green tip and then email, twitter, and even Facebook the green tips.

Share your tips with your friends to have them come to GreenNexxus and give your tip a thumbs up (or thumbs down). The best part is to rate the green tips, you need to be a GreenNexxus member, what a great way to invite friends to GreenNexxus.

You can only rate a tip once and any tips that are “nasty” get deleted.

Each time you share any Green Tips you get put into a draw EACH time.

The highest rated tip, the top contributors, and the top sharers will appear on the Tips page.
Be a Green Tip Star and come share your tips and tricks to help everyone go green.

Cya online,

Ryan and the GreenNexxus Team

Watch the yard sales for cheap blender this summer and save your papers to make your own wrapping papers or even art works with recycled hand made papers

Recycle all of your papers and plastics, use reusable cloth shopping bags, buy items that have proceeds that will be donated to organizations that are pro green, consider using solar panels for your household, replace old light-bulbs with energy efficient ones (they are so worth it!), and buy that awesome Prius with the solar panels.

Go Wild!! Wild game and wild fish require no harmful agricultural and farming practices, contain no growth hormones or other pharmacuticals to produce. They are a renewable and sustainable resource that "is as green as you can get". It is healthy food, low in cholesterol and fat and tastes far richer than deomstically farmed meat, poultry and farmed salmon. Go Wild!!

Turn it into a bird house for sure -- I'm pejudice toward birds. I think the most often forgotten of the "Three R's" (Reduce, Reuse, Recyle) is the second. I am constantly 'reusing' items that others have either discarded or tossed. There is almost no item that can not be found that is emminently servicible (and often in an almost new condition too), that you can not find by taking a little time to either shop for or in my case to "dive" for. You have to get into the mindset of planning and be able to recognize an opportunity too -- be OPPORTUNISTIC. Almost everything I need to do every project, hobby or home construction/repair comes from demolition sites, renno projects, demolition sales or from construction site demolition bins (and it meets building Code too). It is truly amazing what is tossed out by industry and contractors. I also find that I now have lots of people approaching me asking where to get XXX or do I have YYY? There is a lot of pride and satisfaction in producing items, crafts and projects from reused materials... oh and "art" too!! And it keeps the stuff out of the landfills too.

Find a second life for an old object rather than toss it in the trash. I just bought a book called "Don't Throw It Out: Recycle, Renew, And Reuse To Make Things Last" written by Lori Baird. I have an old lunchbox that I want to either turn it into a bird house or a planter. Not sure yet.

Eliminate all processed foods with ingredients you can't pronoune. Eat as natural as possible (fresh fruits, veggies, wild herbs, raw nuts & seeds, fresh raw grass-fed dairy and meats, etc...) Fermented foods! Super cheap, great for the planet and great for your body. Warning: Life will change and creativity will skyrocket!

Think about the life cycle of a product before you buy it. A lot of plastic containers are still non recyclable. If the container it comes in can only be thrown in the trash, consider not buying it. Only eat and buy foods that are grown locally. Grow your own veggies in a hanging basket and herbs in your window sill. Cherry tomatoes are so much better and take up little space. Chives and other herbs are great for salads, potatoes and are also easy to grow and take little space. Better for you, better for the environment.

(I forgot to add) Combine all errands in one trip and walk when possible. Better for you, better for the environment.

Instead of purchasing some "green" product to clean your bar-b-q grill, why not just use a wire brush made for that purpose immediately after each use. A hot grill is alot easier to clean and only takes about 30 seconds. The next time you use the grill it will be nice and clean.

here's another r - remember what our ancestors did before the bombardment of toxic chemicals and waste - if you don't need it, don't buy it. fertilize naturally, grow your own, plan for disposal before you buy or use. think.
